Bodybuilders like photography. I was glad to be able to debunk Detroit’s nothingness. When you come to Detroit, there is always a trigger warning deep in your mind – “high crime rate”, “corruption”, “default” – all of this turns you away from once prosperous city. As it was discovered there are nice photogenic places and those which are funky in their shabbiness.
I was fortunate to meet people from Art-n-Soul meetup group organized by Tina Lynn, photographer and art lover, whose interests and passions are the collimation lines that unite us as we try to see the beauty in either constructed or destructed forms of the city. This Detroit photo walk was a tabula rasa for me and somewhat oneiric. After the photo walk, we went to Detroit Institute of Art to draw.
Here are some of my pictures from the photo walk.
